You Can't Please Them All

This is one of the hardest lessons to learn as a writer:

You can't please everyone.

There will be people out there who HATE your writing, your stories, your characters. Some will be nice about it while others will be cruel. Yes, it will hurt. Yes, you will feel sad for a long time.

But please, don't let it stop you. Your writing WILL find its audience. For every reader who doesn't like your storytelling or doesn't understand you, someone else will. It's a necessary evil.

Think about it: I'm sure there are things you love that people hate. I'm a huge sushi fan. My parents? They both think it's gross.

So remember, people not liking your work is normal. It's a given for authors everywhere. And while it's painful, it's not the end.

Keep writing, friends. You got this.

Love,

Dana
